Non-Destructive Investigation
Inspect underground assets without excavation.
Large-Diameter & Long Pipelines
Our cameras travel long distances through wide systems.
Footage & Documentation
Perfect for reporting, maintenance, or insurance records.
Precise Defect Location
Identify cracks, root intrusion, or blockages with exact depth and position.
What Exactly Is a Drain & Pipe Survey?
Think of it as an X-ray for your property. Instead of digging up half a driveway or site to find a problem, we send in specialized CCTV tech to do the scouting for you.
Our cameras navigate stormwater and sewer lines to identify the “usual suspects”:
- Structural Red Flags: Cracks, fractures, and full-scale collapses.
- Obstructions: Root balls, debris, and stubborn blockages.
- Serviceability Issues: Displaced joints and corrosion.
- Engineering Specs: Confirming material types, diameters, and precise depth/location.
All findings are packaged into a structured digital report that speaks the language of engineers, builders, and councils alike.
WinCan Reporting: The Gold Standard
If you’re submitting documentation to a Sydney council or utility provider, a basic video clip won’t cut it. We use WinCan software—the industry benchmark—to produce professional condition reports.
Every survey includes:
- Crystal-clear HD video and high-res stills.
- Standardised defect coding and severity grading.
- Accurate distance measurements (chainage).
- Asset mapping data ready for engineering assessment.
Why Choose OzDetect?

When Should You Book a Survey?
If there is uncertainty beneath the surface, a CCTV inspection is your best insurance policy. We’re frequently called in for:
- Pre-purchase inspections (don’t buy someone else’s plumbing nightmare).
- Dilapidation reports before major construction begins.
- Council compliance and stormwater certifications.
- Post-repair verification to prove the job was done right.
CCTV Inspections FAQs
How long does a typical pipe survey take?
Most residential or small commercial surveys are wrapped up within 2 to 4 hours. Larger civil sites or long-run mainlines take longer, but we prioritize getting on and off-site quickly so we don’t hold up your subbies.
Can you find exactly where a pipe is buried?
Yes. By using sonde-equipped cameras and surface locators, we can “trace” the pipe from above ground. We’ll give you the exact location and depth, which is a lifesaver if you eventually need to dig.
What happens if the camera gets stuck?
It’s rare, but it happens in collapsed lines. Our operators are highly experienced in navigating “tricky” pipes, and because we use specialized crawler rigs, we have much more control than a standard push-rod camera. If there’s a risk, we’ll let you know before we send the gear in.
Do I need to be on-site for the inspection?
Not necessarily. As long as we have clear access to the entry points (pits, manholes, or IOs), we can perform the survey and send the digital report and footage directly to your inbox.
What’s the difference between a "plumber's camera" and your survey?
A standard plumber’s camera is great for finding a clog. Our WinCan surveys are forensic tools. We provide coded data, severity grading, and professional reports that are legally and technically defensible for insurance, council, and engineering purposes.
