What is a CCTV Tractor Camera and we use them across Sydney
Why use a tractor camera?
A CCTV tractor camera gives you a clear look inside large underground pipes, without having to dig them up. It’s a remote-controlled, wheeled camera that travels through stormwater or sewer systems, sending back live HD footage of the internal condition.
When You Need It
Our tractor camera inspections are perfect for:
- Stormwater and sewer pipe assessments
- Pre- and post-construction inspections
- Identifying blockages, collapses, cracks, or root intrusions
- Locating unknown drainage connections
- Verifying pipe grade, alignment, and structural integrity
Why Choose OzDetect?
Accurate Reporting
We provide detailed condition reports using industry-standard WinCan software — complete with stills, HD video, grading, and location data.
Certified Experience
Our experienced operators understand drainage networks inside and out, ensuring every inspection meets the right standards.
Integrated Services
From pipe locating and mapping to non-destructive excavation, we offer complete underground investigation services — all from one point of contact.
No Guesswork
Builders, councils, plumbers, and civil contractors rely on us for fast, factual information that eliminates uncertainty and keeps projects moving.
Important Considerations Before Inspection
To get the most accurate results from your CCTV inspection, we strongly recommend jetting the pipes beforehand. This clears out silt, debris, and obstructions that can block the camera’s view or distort the assessment.
A clean line ensures we capture high-quality footage and provide a reliable condition report.
If you need help with this, OzDetect can coordinate jetting prior to inspection so everything runs smoothly.
⚠️ Please note: Our tractor camera system is designed for relatively straight, open pipe runs. It cannot traverse vertical drops, steps, or walls inside the pipe. If these are present, alternative access methods or smaller push cameras may be required.
CCTV Inspections FAQs
What is a CCTV pipe inspection?
A CCTV pipe inspection involves using a high-resolution camera to inspect the internal condition of underground pipes such as stormwater and sewer lines. This allows us to identify blockages, cracks, root intrusion, collapses, illegal connections, and construction defects without excavation.
What types of pipes can OzDetect inspect?
We inspect a wide range of pipe types including stormwater, sewer, drainage, and service conduits. Our CCTV inspections are commonly used for residential, commercial, civil, and council infrastructure projects across NSW.
Why would I need a CCTV pipe inspection? CCTV inspections are commonly required to:
- Locate where stormwater connects to the main line
- Investigate blockages or recurring drainage issues
- Assess pipe condition pre or post construction
- Meet council or asset-owner requirements
- Verify compliance on new or existing works
Do you provide CCTV reports?
Yes. We provide professional CCTV inspection reports with video footage, still images, pipe condition observations, and defect coding where required. (WinCan) Reports can be supplied in PDF format and are compatible with engineering, council, and survey requirements.
Can you locate the pipe after the CCTV inspection?
Yes. Where required, we can locate and mark the inspected pipe and connection points on the ground surface. Our findings can also be provided for pickup by your surveyor, or we can coordinate directly with them as part of the scope.
Do pipes need to be cleaned before a CCTV inspection?
In many cases, yes. Pipes should be free of heavy debris, silt, or standing water to achieve clear footage. If required, we can advise whether jetting or cleaning is recommended prior to the CCTV inspection.
Are your CCTV inspections suitable for council and compliance purposes?
Yes. Our CCTV inspections are commonly used for council submissions, compliance verification, defect identification, and asset condition assessments. We work closely with engineers, surveyors, builders, and councils to ensure results meet project requirement
